In truth, as a woman designer, no one would have known about me if I hadn’t spoken out in the 1970s with a feminist reappraisal of the design arts. Focusing on one stratum of myself — gender — provided me with other ways to look at graphic design that anticipated the 1980s Deconstructivism critique of the International Style.
